The new Campus Center project combines a new 13,000 square foot addition to the existing Shape facility at the south side of the campus at VTC. The existing Shape facility has a full-size gymnasium with climbing wall, indoor pool, men’s and women’s locker rooms and two racquetball courts. The new student Campus Center has added the following spaces: new kitchen, dining area for 75, student lounge, outdoor seating area, fitness facility, multi-purpose room and storage.
The new addition is strategically placed to help connect the new Campus Center to the main campus as well as to take advantage of the southerly views and solar orientation for passive solar. Due to the sloped site, the addition is a onestory structure that has different levels that step the addition down the slope. The addition has a new main entry for the entire facility, and the current entry will be demolished. The addition has also connected to the existing building at the south side of the racquetball courts to allow easy access to the elevator and stairs down to the existing locker rooms. The new main entry corridor will also be used for the VTC “Walk of Fame” and will be designed to accommodate displays of artwork, trophy cases, and to provide areas to hang school banners.
